Material bridging, unstable intake and fluctuating output often limit productivity and make it harder to maximise recycled content. To overcome these challenges, Dutch extrusion specialist MEAF has developed the MEAF MAX, an extruder designed specifically for high-output processing of low bulk density regrind. The key innovation is a newly developed intake design. By combining an optimised feed opening with a redesigned inlet geometry, the MEAF MAX reduces material bridging and stabilises material flow into the extruder. This allows processors to run challenging recycled materials more consistently and at higher output levels.According to Rony d%u2019Hollander, Director & Process Specialist at MEAF, the industry%u2019s next challenge is not simply using more recycled material, but processing it efficiently.%u201cRecycled-content targets are increasing across the plastics industry, but production efficiency remains critical. MEAF MAX allows processors to achieve both objectives by combining stable intake of low bulk density regrind with significantly higher throughput.%u201dThe technology has been validated with regrind materials having a bulk density of approximately 0.35 kg/l. Under these conditions, the MEAF MAX can deliver between 20% and 30% higher throughput compared with conventional extrusion systems.Depending on the configuration, outputs can reach up to one tonne per hour with the 75 mm MAX barrel design and up to two tonnes per hour with the 90 mm version. In addition to lightweight regrind, the system can also process higher bulk density recycled materials and virgin polymers, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. As sustainability requirements continue to grow, processors are looking for practical ways to increase recycled content without compromising productivity. Technologies that improve material intake and process stability are likely to play an increasingly important role.MEAF Machines B.V.Industrieweg 10 - 4401 LB Yerseke The NetherlandsTel +31 113 571495 - office@meaf.com www.meaf.comMATEXPLA S.A Contacto: Ing.
